Pick this tee up and the first thing you’ll notice is how smooth it feels. That comes from the yarn. Tultex uses super combed, ring-spun cotton spun into 36 singles, a much finer thread than most basic tees use, so the fabric is light, soft and a little silky. At 4.2 ounces, it’s a shirt you can wear through a hot afternoon and still feel good in by dinner.

It has a retail fit, so it’s cut a bit closer to the body without being snug. Side seams keep it hanging straight, and the heat-set fabric helps it hold its shape after a trip through the wash. Inside, tape across the back of the neck and shoulders keeps the collar lying flat, which is one of those small details you don’t notice until a cheaper tee starts curling at the neckline.
